If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WeEOLC using #WeEOLC

This chat is guest hosted by @mariecooper100 @GaryMitchellRN

Sarah Russell is the Head of Research and Clinical Innovation at Hospice UK. She is also the full time carer for her mother who lives well with Alzheimer’s. Sarah tweets as @learnhospice @WeEOLC and @swaydemfriend

I have been a hospice and palliativecare nurse for over 20 years. I love my job and am still rather surprised thatI get paid at the end of the month for doing it. For twelve years I have also been a carer for my elderly parents including the last five years as a full time carer for my mother. Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s shortly after she came to live with us. In hindsight, we had suspected it for a little while and confirmation although traumatic was a bit of a relief. We could now focus onliving well with dementia rather than dwelling on the uncertainty of thepresent. I have said elsewhere http://www.ehospice.com/uk/Default/tabid/10697/ArticleId/15377/ my thoughts about being a carer and also about the use of One Page End of Life Profiles http://www.ehospice.com/uk/ArticleView/tabid/10697/ArticleId/18436/language/en-GB/View.aspx

More recently I have been thinking about what are the needs in dementia and end of life care - see http://blogs.bmj.com/ebn/2016/02/19/dementia-and-advance-care-planning/

Join us for a @WeEOLC #WeEOLC tweetchat with @learnhospice @mariecooper100 and @GaryMitchellRN

on Tuesday 1st March2016:8-9pm to discuss dementia and end of life care e.g.

  • What is the role of hospices in dementia?

  • How do patients and their families work with hospices, palliative, health and social care services to live and die well with dementia?
