#WeCYPNs - Wednesday 24th April 2019 8pm (GMT Standard Time) Teaching carers complex procedures

If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WeCYPnurses using #WeCYPNs

This chat is guest hosted by @lmpartridge

There are lots of families in the community looking after CYP with complex medical needs and carrying out care such as invasive and non invasive ventilation, enteral and parenteral feeding, administration of intravenous medication and much more.  Often supported by community children's nurses.   This is evidenced by #notanursebut on Twitter.

This chat is co-hosted by Linda Partridge formerly of Well Child and aims to discuss the accountability issues of training families i.e consideration of health and safety and delegation.

  • Ensuring health & safety/delegation - how do you ensure that responsibility for training is not delegated to someone who is not experienced to deliver specific training/task
  • What if any are your major challenges when it comes to training parents and carers
  • Who's responsibility is it to train parents and carer's and who delivers the training
  • Who train's the trainer?
  • Who reviews the training given and when/where is re training given?
  • Is training offered at an appropriate time and place?
  • Whatbtraining models, if any, do you use/
  • Are parents/ carers able to evaluate the training they have been offered?
