Hosted by WeNurses using #WeCareHomes

This chat is guest hosted by @louisebrady17 @nchadborn

Excellent practice already exists in many care home settings, together with a wide breath of MDT input confirming the systems overarching and on-going commitment to quality improvement. However, as yet there is no systematic and care sector-wide approach to quality improvement, within UK Care Homes. Quality Cycles, are used in comparable settings such as healthcare, and clinical audit is well understood and utilised in care planning and as part of a complex regularly framework.  We want to find out from care homes in partnership with the MDT, what does quality improvement mean to you?

To read Louise Brady's (Clinical Practice and Development) & Susan Barnes's (Registered Manager at Mais House) blog post Ground Control to Major Tom’ - Quality Improvement and Innovation in care exploring quality improvement in care homes CLICK HERE

Questions

1/‘Quality Improvement’  can mean different things to different  people. How do we define quality improvement?

2/  What comes to mind when we think about QI in a care home setting?

3/ How do care homes work and communicate with the wider health and care team to capture, measure document and showcase QI?

4/ How do care staff create quality improvement partnerships with their residents and families and communities?

5/ What examples of quality improvement initiatives can our community share?

6/ A care home quality improvement framework is in development to support teams across the care sector, what would you like to see included in this framework?

25 March 2021 20:17
@WeNurses @louisebrady17 Quality Improvement is perhaps better defined by behaviours and actions than words. If all have a mindset and ambition to continually improve then the likelihood of success is high. If they don’t then there is little chance of success whatever they try. #WeCareHomes
