#WeNurses - Thursday 8th July 2021 8pm (GMT Standard Time) Health Information Week

If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WeNurses using #WeNurses

This chat is guest hosted by @Healthinfoweek

This special edition of #WeNurses highlights Health Information Week #HIW2021, running 5-11 July 2021 from @healthinfoweek on Twitter. Health Information Week promotes reliable health information resources to members of the public. Tonight's chat will focus on what's new in health information: a new collection of uplifting resources aimed at NHS staff, a new standard kite mark for information quality assurance administered by the Patient Information Forum (the PIF Tick), and new ways that health information is being shared digitally (Twitter, TikTok, WhatsApp and other platforms).

Questions

  1. Have you read/listened to/interacted with any of the resources recommended in Uplifting resources for the NHS from the NHS?
  2. What #uplifting resource would you like to add to this list for other nurses to discover?
  3. Are you familiar with the PIF Tick? https://pifonline.org.uk/pif-tick/
  4. Where do you go to find health information?
  5. #FollowThursday: any #digitalhealth accounts or influencers you'd recommend?
  6. #PledgeToPause: have you heard about this campaign to reduce #misinformation online?

@WeNurses One of my favourite feel good books is A Man called Ove, its a story of a man coming to terms with the death of his wife and had me laughing out loud in places #wenurses
@Healthinfoweek
08 July 2021 20:26
@WeNurses The PIF (stands for Patient Information Forum) Tick replaces the previous Information Standard. It's a quality kitemark - when you see it, you can be confident it's reliable #HealthInformation #HIW2021 #WeNurses

@LindsaySnell
08 July 2021 20:31
@WeNurses There was an accreditation process to go through, which was very rigorous #WeNurses #HIW2021
@Healthinfoweek
08 July 2021 20:32
@alimully @WeNurses I should know this but I don't! I do know that it used to be administered by the NHS & orgs had to apply to be certified, but I'm not sure about payment - many apologies! #WeNurses
@LindsaySnell
08 July 2021 20:33
@WeNurses #WeNurses #HIW2021 I don't think there was a payment.
@alimully
08 July 2021 20:34
@Healthinfoweek @WeNurses I just wondered as I noticed the pricing structure on the website. And I suppose someone needs to pay for the process. #WeNurses
@WeNurses
08 July 2021 20:35
QUESTION 4 Where do you go to find health information? #WeNurses https://t.co/cBfnFdMlbg
@LindsaySnell
08 July 2021 20:35
@WeNurses A quick scan of the website at https://www.england.nhs.uk/tis/ doesn't reveal any mention of payment... #WeNurses #HIW2021
@alimully
08 July 2021 20:36
@Healthinfoweek @WeNurses Sorry got a bit sidetracked there, but its typical of a process we are seeing more, something run previously by the #NHS now outsourced so needs to be charged for #WeNurses

08 July 2021 20:39
@WeNurses For me? Google - I normally end up on the NHS website. For patients? Well know charities, there is so much out there, lived experiences can be helpful for some but damaging for others ie I cured myself by eating lettuce for 3 months... videos etc #WeNurses

08 July 2021 20:40
@alimully @Healthinfoweek @WeNurses Complicated, isn't it? Time to check and accredit needs to be paid for somehow. @PiFonline is a not for profit org with expertise and a strong history in this area, I believe #PIFTICK fills a gap spotted by #PIF rather than outsourced from NHS #WeNurses #HIW2021
@AgencyNurse
08 July 2021 20:41
@alimully i get that as sometimes easier to search google than individual sites .... and that can be really helpful #WeNurses

There is indeed SO MUCH out there, it can be difficult sorting the wheat from the chaff! Librarians & fact-checker sites like @FullFact can be useful for developing #HealthLiteracy & #DigitalHealthLiteracy - distinguish influencers from @WHO accounts on @tiktok_uk #WeNurses https://twitter.com/alimully/status/1413221289599328261
