Nurses need to understand the science underpinning nursing practice, but this is not easy to achieve. Nurses and healthcare workers come from diverse backgrounds, work in varied roles and the area of bioscience knowledge is evolving.

The challenges are recognised by nurse educators.

A group of enthusiastic academics focus on these issues.

The Bioscience in Nurse Education (BiNe) group, @BineNetwork, are UK based academics who share, discuss and develop bioscience education, scholarship and research.

The BiNe group defines ‘Biosciences Education’ as including anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, pharmacology and microbiology

The Biosciences Quality Assurance Framework (B-QAF)is a resource for nurse educators to use when developing pre-registration curricula and in pedagogical planning

Have you seen this?

Join #WeNurseAcademics and the BiNE group in an open discussion about the network, the challenges, and potential solutions.

Student Nurses, Nursing Associates, Health Care Support Workers, Registered Nurses, healthcare professionals and individuals interested in bioscience education all welcome
