Despite many years as a pharmacist I found this chat was a really enlightening and interesting look at pharmacy careers and the possibilities that are open to our profession. Of latethere has been a lot of discussion about the future prospects for pharmacy, notleast following the decision on student numbers and on the other hand anexpansion of opportunities into general practice and urgent & emergencycare; both these positive and negative elements were reflected in the pre-chatcomments and tweets but it was interesting to see the positivity come outduring the chat itself.

If you’ve not already doneso, then I’d urge you to take a look at the transcript to get a real feel forthe conversations that went on. I was personally most interested in the stories and journey of @EllieFW and @WiqasV simply because of their unique nature– but that’s certainly not to say that the rest of the contributors were in anyway uninteresting! Of particular note too was the positive discussion over theRPS Foundation Program and its benefits – I think it fair to say that those ofus at the chat who are a long time qualified all would like to have been ableto access something like this in our early years, a message I will certainly betaking to future discussions with students and pre-registration pharmacists.

As with all our chats we like to wrap up with a ‘sowhat?’ to capture the impact and outcomes of our discussions and for me there are two: firstly, that this chat is one of the few which has generated more than two million impressions, a testament to the interest and intensity of you as a tweeting community; and secondly, that seeing student pharmacists tweet that they'll look into the RPS Foundation Program or reconsider the options available to them in their career can only be a good thing.
