#WeNurses - Tuesday 4th October 2022 8pm (GMT Standard Time) Whose "role" is patient experience?

If you haven't joined in a tweet chat before it's very simple.    Here's a guide

 Chat Details

Hosted by WeNurses using #WeNurses

Whilst the answer to the leading question "Whose "role" is patient exp?" is unarguably "everyone's", this chat looks to look beyond the organisational "Patient Experience Lead" as a role and explores the culture, value, and impact of working with patient experiences in healthcare.

Every single healthcare professional is impactful in the experience a patient receives.

The organisation is responsible for service planning, policy, the environment, and the support, tools, and skills the healthcare professionals required to deliver great patient experiences.

There are a variety of different ways patients can and do deliver experience feedback and many actively participate in organised feedback that is designed to be shared, collated, and communicated to improve service and experience delivery.

Across the WeCommunities we see a huge variation in how patients' experiences are gathered, shared, valued, and sometimes see the full circle impact it has.

For this tweetchat, we would like to explore with you, regardless of your role given that we all impact patient experience, the following opportunities to talk and share and learn from each other's views and engagement with working with patients' experiences.

This chat's questions:

  • Whose role is the "patient experience"?
  • What information is collected or shared with you related to patient experience?
  • What do you believe is the purpose of collecting and sharing patient experience information?
  • How is patient experience information presented and feedback to you?
  • What are the challenges or solutions you've found to obtaining patient experience feedback?
  • What more can be done to enable patient experience feedback to improve patient experiences?

You can use this tweetchat for participatory CPD / Revalidation via #MyWe, here's a how-to guide, and the login link to #MyWe

If you've not joined a tweetchat before here's how:

Using a hashtag (#) like #WeNurses allows us to use a Twitter feature that shows everyone the tweets that contain it, this allows us to chat with people that we don't follow, yet, enabling the ability for us to chat together on Twitter.

@WeNurses We definitely need to improve the communication of patient experience and patient survey responses and results. Most ‘shop floor’ workers only hear feedback if it’s communicated directly to them by the patient or written compliments and/or complaints. #WeNurses

@WeNurses Or is it how we are communicated to? Is it portrayed in a negative way: “We do this so badly” Instead of spinning it positively to: “Patient A said they didn’t like this, so I had a really great idea to make our care even better!” How things are said matters! #WeNurses

Unpaid Carers, of the Patient, are dealing with a lot of the problems GPN’s are dealing with i.e. the emotional connection, neither of them have much of an employment status & neither of them have the luxury of having the Patient discharged form their care. #WeNurses

GPN’s should use the Unpaid Carers experience to help them design a good care plan & the Unpaid Carer, fully informed, will ensure the treatment continues when the GPN has to leave the Patient. #WeNurses

@Winn_on_Health @WeNurses Or should it be a joint story from both the patient and the staff members? Healthcare provided where the patient and staff member are both satisfied is the optimum goal. I recently did a patient journey from both perspectives, it worked really well. #WeNurses
